The Digby Area Fishermen’s Memorial

 

Fishermens memorial service pic for program The Digby Area Fishermen’s Memorial offers our community a place to remember and honor Digby Area fishers who were lost at sea. The memorial will stand as a lasting tribute for many generations to come.

If you would like to honor a fisher at the memorial site contact the Town of Digby at 902-245-4769 or download the Digby Area Fishermen’s Memorial form  The cost of having a name inscribed on to the memorial is $150.00 per name.

A memorial service will be held on the third Sunday in September at 2:00 PM at the Fishermen’s Park on Maiden Lane.

Festivals and Events

Each year the Town of Digby is pleased to sponsor or host the following events. Please join us. Come and Sea what's happening in the Town of Digby.

Digby Farmers and Artisans Market- This market runs every Friday and Sunday 10am to 3pm from June to September along Digby's picturesque Admiral's Walk downtown. With our ever-changing list of participantng vendors, you will be sure to find somthing that piques your interest. Locally crafted products include, wine, cider, ethnic foods, baked goods, woodworking, fibre art and quilts, jewellery, paintings, artwork, crafts, honey, soap, fresh produce and plants. Each market day brings new surprises. 

Canada Day - Join us for our Annual Mayor & Council BBQ! Wednesday July 1st, 2026 from 11:30am to 1:30pm to Celebrate CANADA'S BIRTHDAY!  Birthday Cake, Hotdogs, Drinks & Music.  Location to be decided.

Joe Casey Award Ceremony - This ceremony is held annually to honor a person or persons who have made significate contribution to the betterment of the Town of Digby. Past receipients of this award are Frank Mackintosh, Terry Gilbert, Angela O'Neil, Wendi Bradley, John Nichols, Jonathan Riley, Richard (Dick) Levy,Greg Turner,Charles Haliburton, Bonnie Vantassell and Gail Hersey, Marilyn Mackintosh,Bob and Helen Eisener, Sue Dexter-White and Everette Pyne . Lobster Bash - July 3 to July 5 2026 this event is a celebration to promote the Lobster Industry in South West Nova Scotia. Lots to see and do oh and eat during the event follow the link for more details.

Digby Scallop Days - This is the longest running festival in the Digby area a celebration of scallops, the scallop fishing industry and the people who brave the seas to harvest them. The festival is held during the first weekend of August and is celebrated over a four day period starting on Thursday. Lots of fun for the entire family. The 2026 festival will be held August 6 to August 9.

Wharf Rat Rally - This motorcycle rally began in 2005 with a small gathering of motorcycle and has grown to Canada's largest multi day motorcycle rally. Come and join the excitment September 3 to September 6, 2026

Annual Town of Digby Tree Lighting Ceremony - This event is held the last Friday in November behind the Cenotaph on the Promanade at 6:00 PM.
