The Audit Committee provides advice and recommendations to Council on matters related to auditing, financial reporting, risk management, and internal controls. The Committee assists Council in fulfilling its responsibilities under the Municipal Government Act and promotes accountability and sound financial management.
Responsibilities
- Reviews annual audited financial statements and quarterly financial reports.
- Monitors financial reporting practices, accounting policies, and significant financial risks.
- Oversees the work and performance of the Town’s external auditor.
- Reviews internal controls, financial policies, and regulatory compliance.
- Monitors the Town’s investment portfolio and banking services.
- Reviews insurance coverage for significant risks and uncertainties.
- Provides recommendations to Council on financial and audit-related matters.
- Reviews its Terms of Reference annually.
