Early Years and Education

Paul's formative years were spent right here in Digby.  He went on to graduate from Digby Regional High School (DRHS) and further honed his skills at Community College, learning the ins and outs of Radio and Television Arts. This solid education laid the groundwork for his career in broadcasting.

Professional Journey and Community Involvement

For more than two decades, Paul worked in Halifax in both radio and television, balancing a thriving career and family life. However, the pull of his hometown was strong, and in 2008, Paul returned to Digby, ready to give back to his hometown.  Paul started working at Home Hardware over 10 years ago, lending his skills first to customer service and then moving into his current role in office management.  Since then, he has also been actively involved in various local initiatives, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to supporting local small businesses and enhancing community organizations.

Paul's approach to community engagement is as multifaceted as it is effective.

Offline Methods:

  1. Offline Methods:Community Events: Paul is a familiar face at many town events. You usually see him recording video, taking pictures or lending his expertise with audio equipment. He also just pitches in wherever he’s needed. 
  2. Local Projects: His involvement with the Scallop Days Festival, the Admiral Digby Museum and the Digby & Area Theatre Society highlights his commitment to preserving and promoting local culture and history.  
  3. Participation: Serving on various committees over the years such as the RCMP Advisory Committee, Senior Safety, Fire Department, Waste Check and the Planning Advisory Committee to name a few, Paul ensures that both citizens and local businesses have a voice in our town’s development.

Online Methods:

  1. Social Media Advocacy: Through various platforms Paul raises awareness about the importance of supporting local businesses, sharing success stories and upcoming events. 
  2. Newsletter: He remains committed to the development of the town’s newsletter to keep the community informed about the latest initiatives, encouraging residents to engage with and support their own community. 
  3. Technology: Paul consistently explores and utilizes innovative technologies to enhance the connection between citizens and their local government.

Paul’s story is a testament to the power of community engagement and the impact that dedicated individuals can have when they choose to return and support their hometown. His efforts remind us that each of us has a role to play in fostering a thriving and vibrant community.
